WASHINGTON, June 21 — President Donald Trump marked Father's Day on Sunday with a familiar tradition: receiving a bag of Big Macs in bed from his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
According to family associates, the custom dates back decades to Trump Jr.'s childhood, when he would personally bring breakfast to his father on Father's Day morning. Over the years, the ritual evolved alongside changes in technology and family schedules, but the central element remained the same — a delivery of McDonald's Big Macs to begin the day.
This year, Trump Jr. reportedly arranged the delivery through the food-ordering service Uber Eats rather than making the trip himself.
"It's something we've done for a long time," a person familiar with the family's Father's Day plans said. "When Don was younger, he'd carry the bag himself. Now he just places the order on his phone."
The meal arrived at the president's residence early Sunday morning, according to individuals familiar with the matter. Family members later gathered for private celebrations.
Trump's well-documented preference for McDonald's has been a recurring feature of his public image for decades. During both of his presidencies, he frequently referenced fast food in interviews and occasionally served fast-food meals at official events.
