Washington, D.C. — FBI agents on Friday executed a search warrant at the home of former National Security Advisor John Bolton as part of an ongoing investigation into missing files connected to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
According to sources familiar with the operation, federal investigators arrived at Bolton’s Bethesda residence early in the morning. Neighbors reported seeing a convoy of black SUVs and agents carrying boxes from the property over the course of several hours. Officials have confirmed that the search was related to “sensitive materials believed to have been improperly withheld or transferred.”
The missing files reportedly contain correspondence, travel logs, and sealed deposition records that had been scheduled for review by a federal court earlier this year. How Bolton’s name became linked to the whereabouts of such materials remains unclear. Both the Department of Justice and the FBI declined to provide specific details, citing the ongoing nature of the probe.
Bolton himself, reached by phone, said he was “completely unaware” of the investigation prior to Friday’s events. In a brief statement, he insisted he has “no connection to the Epstein matter whatsoever” and signaled his intention to fully cooperate.
“This is a gross overreach, and I expect the facts will show I had no involvement,” Bolton said.
Legal experts say the search marks a significant escalation in the government’s pursuit of information connected to Epstein’s extensive network. “For the FBI to raid the home of a former national security official suggests they are chasing leads with a high degree of seriousness,” noted Stanford law professor Emily Cartwright. “It raises questions about just how deep the missing files go, and who might have had access to them.”
Reaction on Capitol Hill was swift, with lawmakers split along partisan lines. Democrats called for transparency and accountability regardless of stature, while several Republicans framed the move as yet another example of political targeting.
For now, the files remain unaccounted for, and the ramifications of their disappearance continue to ripple through political and legal circles. As the investigation unfolds, it is certain to fuel intense speculation about the full scope of Epstein’s undisclosed connections and the powerful figures who may be implicated.
