WASHINGTON, D.C. — Elon Musk revealed the origin of a visible black eye, attributing the injury to Hunter Biden following what he described as an “all-night bender.”
“We had sort of an all-night bender,” Musk said candidly in response to a reporter’s question about the conspicuous bruise beneath his left eye. “Hunter gave it to me. Don't remember quite when or how,” he added with a shrug, appearing to downplay the incident as the consequence of a wild night rather than a serious altercation.
The comment set off a frenzy online and among political analysts, sparking confusion, concern, and a fair amount of skepticism about the circumstances under which such a gathering occurred — and whether the statement was literal, metaphorical, or even satirical.
Though Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, is known for his unpredictable and often provocative public statements, few expected him to casually align himself with Hunter Biden — the controversial son of President Joe Biden who has faced ongoing scrutiny over past drug use and business dealings.
Neither the White House nor representatives for Hunter Biden have confirmed or commented on Musk’s remarks at time of publication. Attempts to reach Musk’s personal spokesperson for clarification were unsuccessful.
“Look, sometimes life gets interesting,” Musk said with a smirk when asked if he was joking. “It was a long night. Let’s just say I lost a game of... something. I don’t even remember.”
“Either this is some surrealist performance art, or Elon Musk is trolling the entire country again,” said political commentator Tara Leigh on MSNBC. “Or — less likely, but possible — it actually happened.”
On social media, speculation was rampant. Memes of Musk and Biden as unlikely “party bros” spread across platforms, with hashtags like #HunterAndElon and #BlackEyeGate trending within hours.
Until one or both parties provide clarification, the incident will remain one of the more bizarre headlines in a political and technological landscape already brimming with the surreal.
