Washington, DC - Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has aligned herself with a faction of the MAGA movement advocating for a presidential pardon for music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is currently facing serious federal charges.
Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, was indicted in September 2024 on charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty to all allegations and is awaiting trial scheduled for May 2025.
Greene's support for a potential pardon comes amid her broader calls for the declassification of government documents, including those related to Jeffrey Epstein and UFOs. In a February 2025 post on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed her desire for President Trump to release such information "directly to the people! No filters or control!!" She included Combs in this list, stating, "Release it all directly to the people! No filters or control!!"
Sources close to Combs suggest he is preparing to appeal directly to Trump, drawing inspiration from other high-profile prisoners who have sought presidential intervention. “He’s seen Trump free the Capitol Building rioters so he sees no reason why Trump can’t extend the same ‘get out of jail free pass’ to him,” one insider said, referencing the former president’s promises to pardon his supporters and other controversial figures.
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s involvement signals a broader MAGA strategy to leverage presidential pardon powers as a political tool. Greene has previously advocated for “blanket pardons” for Trump allies and January 6 participants, arguing that Republicans should counter what she calls Democrats’ “pardon game." Her support for Combs, a figure not typically aligned with conservative politics, underscores the transactional and symbolic value pardons now hold within certain political circles.
As the legal proceedings continue, the question of whether Combs will receive a presidential pardon remains uncertain. The outcome may depend on various factors, including political considerations and public opinion.
